Summer in the Oliver vineyards
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
September 18, 2009
It’s the end of August, and the grapes are ripening. The harvest is not far away, and it’s always the harvest – the vintage year – that gets the glory. How good will the wine really be, we writers and consumers ask with great interest and occasionally with some anxiety.

Yet, how good depends on a lot more than the harvesting and the assignment of a vintage date on the label. How good starts in the fall, after the harvest, continues through the winter cold (and thaws), the spring rains, and the summer sun. In short, every season contributes to the quality of the vintage.

In the video, Bill Oliver tells us what goes on at Oliver Winery during the summer months and the days leading up to the harvest.
