Summer in the Butler vineyards
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
September 18, 2009
Butler Winery is one of Indiana’s oldest wineries, and Jim Butler is one of the most respected wine producers in the state – so respected, his peers elected him President of the Indiana Wine Guild for ten years. He is also author of INDIANA WINE, a scholarly history of wine in the Hoosier State published by Indiana University Press.

At the 2009 Indianapolis International Wine Competition, Butler Winery became the first Indiana winery ever to win a Concordance Gold Medal -- for their 2008 Chambourcin rose. (See our piece for last July 15.) Jim’s wife Susie is every bit a member of the Butler team, and their entire family is so involved in the winery that its succession is guaranteed.

In the video, Jim talks with Ole about vineyard work in the summer months and what it’s like to be a medal-winner.
