Butler Winery is one of Indiana’s oldest wineries, and Jim Butler is one of the most respected wine producers in the state – so respected, his peers elected him President of the Indiana Wine Guild for ten years. He is also author of INDIANA WINE, a scholarly history of wine in the Hoosier State published by Indiana University Press. At the 2009 Indianapolis International Wine Competition, Butler Winery became the first Indiana winery ever to win a Concordance Gold Medal -- for their 2008 Chambourcin rose. (See our piece for last July 15.) Jim’s wife Susie is every bit a member of the Butler team, and their entire family is so involved in the winery that its succession is guaranteed.
