Exotic wine market
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
September 25, 2009
In Bloomington, when we need a special cooking or salad oil or an exotic spice, we head for Sahara Mart, either the Old Store on the corner of Second and Walnut or the spectacular new 20,000-square-foot New Store on Third Street. We’ve come to expect just about any kind of food ingredient in this emporium, one of our sponsors, from cheeses to flat breads to teas, herbs, and lotions.

And wine. Nearly half the floor space in both stores is devoted to wine. Grand wine. Value wine. Bargain wine. And wine from where you’d least expect it – India, Turkey, Japan, and from all over the Midwest, especially Indiana. Need a rare Champagne from Salon? Or a classified Bordeaux? Vintage Barolo? You’ll find these at Sahara Mart, along with the largest section of organic wines anywhere.

Watch the video to hear Ali Sohrabi, manager of the Old Store, and his wine master Jeffrey Schauss tell about the wines of Sahara Mart.
