An award for Scholars Inn
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
October 23, 2009
Only 3,845 restaurants around the world were selected, and two of them are in our hometown – Bloomington, Indiana. Selected for what? For being wine friendly, that’s what. Selected by whom? The editors of the WINE SPECTATOR, the world’s most widely read wine journal, that’s who.

In the video we’ll talk with Patrick Kitchens, general manager at the Scholars Inn, about the award-winning wine list that earned Scholars Inn an award of Excellence once again in 2009.

The award recognizes a list of wines from high quality producers which match the cuisine and style of the restaurant. Typically, for this award, the list must offer at least 100 wine selections. A complete list of award-winning restaurants from Cambodia to Brazil, from Australia to Europe can be found in the magazine’s issue of August 31 and online at www.winespectator.com/restaurants.

While the editors point out that the award is based strictly on the wine selections and not on the quality of cooking, it is our experience that food is always better where wine is available and still better where the wine is considered exceptional.
