The 2010 Indiana Wine Fair
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
April 28, 2010
How do you turn a bucolic village of six into a bustling, lively village of 5,000? Easy. Just hold a wine fair. That’s what happens every April in Story, Indiana, a pre-Civil War settlement that sleeps most of the year but which suddenly becomes host to thousands of people from all over the state, from Louisville and Cincinnati , Chicago, and much of the Midwest. The Indiana Wine Fair at Story, now in its eighth year, is one of the biggest wine events in the area and showcases wines from most of Indiana’s 46 wineries.

About half of the participating wineries enter selected bottlings in a juried competition which can result in gold, silver, and bronze medals and the winners added to restaurant wine lists. As with most fairs, the Story event includes plenty of entertainment and food and a chance to enjoy the most scenic part of the Hoosier State.
