We have recently been writing about a new threat to the distribution systems governing consumer access to wines of their choice. This threat comes from wholesaler-prepared and sponsored proposed legislation, not at the state level but at the federal level. H.R. 5034 was introduced in the United States House of Representatives last month and would establish state regulation over and above court decisions and establish an unprecedented shift in the balance between federal and state authority over wine and alcohol. This writer is putting the Hoosier Wine Cellar squarely in agreement with wine lovers and wine professionals and consumers around the country in opposing this legislation and is also speaking for VinSense, an Indiana-based wine consumer advocacy group also trying to stop this piece of legislation. In the video I share what people are saying around the country about H.R. 5034 and invite viewers to help take action to protect the interest and rights of wine consumers.
