Preview: 2011 Indiana Wine Fair @ The Story Inn
with Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
April 27, 2011

When Rick Hofstetter bought the Story Inn (one of our sponsors) in 1998, it's doubtful he thought he would have a tremendous and positive impact on the growth of fine wine consumption in Indiana. But it only took him a couple of years to form a talented kitchen staff and put together a wine cellar to match its cuisine.

Story was the first inn in the southern part of the state to throw a party honoring the "Beaujolais Nouveau" and probably the very first in the Midwest to put a monthly "Wine Dinner" on its schedule.

Rick has also actively urged Indiana legislators to re-write the laws governing wine distribution in the state so that wine consumers and restaurant owners could have the right to order wines directly from producers. And a decade ago, he established one of the biggest annual wine events in the state – the Indiana Wine Fair, which draws more than 5,000 visitors to the "inconveniently located" Story Inn on the last weekend of April.

Watch the video to learn more from Rick himself about his passion for good wine and the history of the wine programs at the Story Inn.
