"Kirring" Around at Story Inn
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
September 26, 2008
Be sure to watch the video at right featuring Dr. Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson and Rick Hofstetter, owner of the Story Inn, Story, IN:

The Story Inn - famous for its April Wine Fair, noted for fine food, increasingly appreciated for the quality of the wines in its cellar, and its monthly wine dinners. But there's a lot more at Story. Take it all in with a Kir on the patio or in the Summer Garden or in the Story Still or on the covered bridge. Or even at your table before dinner.

A Kir? A delightful before-dinner drink or a lazy-afternoon libation. Made famous by the World War II Resistance Fighter, Felix Kir, mayor of Dijon and a priest, this drink is four parts dry white wine (best with Aligote) and one part creme de cassis (black currant liqueur). Or peach or apricot or strawberry. Substitute sparkling wine, and it becomes a Kir Royale.

Either way, it's an ideal drink to sip while studying the menu or looking around at the 1850-era village or at the other guests who have come from Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville, and the neighborhood. And to enjoy while musicians in the dining room play Mozart and Hayden and in the Summer Garden Bluegrass and Country.

If you're spending the night, you'll find a fine wine in your room - and you just might get a glimpse of the Blue Lady, a ghost of friendly but unknown origin. Take a look at Story in the video and listen to owner Rick Hofstetter tell about his inn and its wines.
