Be sure to watch the video at right featuring Dr. Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson and Nancy Brock, owner of North Side Liquors, Seymour, IN: A decade or so ago, a single short aisle would house all the wine customers would need in a small Midwestern town’s retail liquor store. Seymour, John Mellencamp’s Small Town, in the south central part of Indiana in the middle of farm country. was no exception. Its population of about 30,000 made it one of the largest towns along Interstate 65 between Indianapolis and Louisville, but a single shelf displayed all the wines. That has all changed. Today, North Side Liquors in Seymour has several shelves, long shelves devoted to wines. North Side owner Nancy Brock now schedules wine-tasting evenings and spends a lot of time traveling to trade shows in search of additional wines. Her wine sales surpass beer sales. Where wine is concerned, her part of rural Indiana is no longer behind the times. Watch the video to learn from Nancy about these changes.
