"The Other Guys" wine portfolio
With Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson
April 9, 2009
Be sure to watch the video at right featuring Dr. Allen Dale 'Ole' Olson and Jeff Fignar of Crossroads Vintners, Indianapolis, IN:

As more and more wines enter the market place, competition is intense for space on retail shelves and for attracting consumers’ attention. Producers are constantly searching for ways to call attention to their wines. We see colorful bottles, eye-catching labels, and curious unwinelike names.

Catchy names and unconventional labels can also backfire when prospective buyers wonder whether an oddly-named wine can really be good. At our February wine dinner at the Story Inn, we learned that humorous names can actually fit serious wines. “Hey Mambo” and “Plungerhead,” “White Knight” and “Pennywise” turned a lot of heads that night, all of them from “The Other Guys” portfolio of Don Sebastiani and Sons Winery in California.

Watch the video to hear Jeff Fignar of Crossroads Vintners tell us about these laid back guys and their stand out wines.
